Return to Cape Henlopen

Last week, Adventure Cycling Association published my first submission to its Bike Overnights blog, which features stories and photos about short cycling getaways involving at least one night away from home.

November Cycling at Delaware′s Cape Henlopen State Park is based on two posts I wrote for my own blog in November 2015 about Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware. The emphasis in this new post for Bike Overnights is on providing practical information that could be helpful to others who might want to take a similar trip.

I recently revisited Cape Henlopen State Park on a daytrip. Much has changed since last year at the Fort Miles Artillery Park, which is being developed at the Fort Miles area within the state park. The guns I photographed last November have been relocated to permanent sites on the grounds, and interpretive exhibit panels about them have been installed. Below are some new pictures of Fort Miles.

The park campground has closed for renovation until spring, so I’ll have to wait until next year to do another bike overnight at Cape Henlopen State Park.
